Getting Started

Where do I even begin? I've never done anything like this before.
The best starting point is a free 20-minute intro call. It's a relaxed conversation. No pressure, no jargon. Zoe will listen to what you're experiencing and help you understand which approach feels like the right fit. Book your free call here →
What's the difference between all the modalities Zoe offers?
Holistic Counselling is a conversational, whole-person approach to emotional wellbeing and self-awareness. Emotion Code focuses on releasing trapped emotions, the past experiences that have left an energetic imprint. Body Code goes broader, addressing imbalances across the whole body (structural, nutritional, energetic, and more). Belief Code works at the identity level, uncovering and rewriting the subconscious beliefs that quietly drive your behaviour. Yoga Therapy is a body-based practice using movement, breath, and nervous system work, tailored specifically to you. See the modality guide on the Pricing page for more detail.
Do I need to have tried other things first?
Not at all. Some of Zoe's clients come having tried everything (therapy, medication, physical treatments) and found something was still missing. Others are completely new to any kind of inner work. Both are welcome.
Is this a replacement for therapy or medical care?
No. Zoe's work is a complement to professional medical or psychological care, not a replacement for it. Many clients work with a therapist or GP alongside their sessions. If you're in acute crisis, please seek appropriate professional support first.
Who is this work best suited to?
People who feel stuck (emotionally, physically, or in patterns they can't seem to shift) and who are open to exploring things beyond conventional approaches. You don't need to "believe" in the work for it to be effective. Curiosity and openness are enough.

Holistic Counselling

What is holistic counselling?
Holistic counselling is a client-centred approach that considers the whole person: mind, body, and spirit. It integrates traditional counselling with complementary techniques to support emotional wellbeing, self-awareness, and meaningful, lasting change. Sessions are conversational and warm, with space for whatever you bring.
How is it different from regular therapy?
Traditional therapy is excellent at working with thoughts and behaviours. Holistic counselling does that too, while also acknowledging how emotion lives in the body, how energy shifts as we heal, and what gives a person a sense of meaning. It's not a replacement for psychological therapy where that's needed. It's a complementary, integrative approach.
Tell me about the free student client sessions.
Zoe is currently completing her Diploma in Holistic Counselling and is taking on a limited number of student clients at no cost. You commit to three sessions (online or in person) and complete a short feedback form after each one. The form is part of her training and helps her refine her practice. You receive a full, professional counselling experience. To enquire, book a free intro call.
What qualifies Zoe to offer counselling?
A combination of formal training and decades of lived practice. Zoe is currently completing a Diploma in Holistic Counselling. Before this, she worked as a Police Detective and Family Liaison Officer in London's Metropolitan Police, a role that required a counselling certificate to practise and involved sitting with people in the worst moments of their lives. As a Yoga Therapist, she has used counselling tools alongside body-based practice for many years.
Why is the first session 90 minutes?
The first session involves time to share your story, what's bringing you in, and what you'd like the work to focus on. 90 minutes gives us space to do that without rushing. Subsequent sessions are 60 minutes.
Is this for people in crisis?
If you are in acute psychological distress or experiencing suicidal thoughts, please contact your GP, a registered psychologist, or in Australia call Lifeline on 13 11 14. Holistic counselling works wonderfully for people navigating life transitions, relationship challenges, grief, burnout, and self-development. It is not designed for acute crisis intervention.

Emotion Code

What exactly is a "trapped emotion"?
When we experience intense emotion (grief, fear, anger, betrayal) our body generates an energetic response. Usually we process it and move on. But sometimes, especially during overwhelm or shock, that emotional energy gets stuck in the body. Dr Bradley Nelson, who developed the Emotion Code, calls these "trapped emotions." They can contribute to physical symptoms, mood patterns, relationship dynamics, and more, often without us knowing why.
What is muscle testing and is it accurate?
Muscle testing (applied kinesiology) uses the body's own neurological responses to access information that isn't always accessible to the conscious mind. It's not infallible, and Zoe doesn't treat it as absolute truth. But it provides a consistent, repeatable method for identifying what the body wants to address. Many practitioners and clients find it remarkably accurate.
Do I have to talk through painful memories or experiences?
No. One of the most valued aspects of this work is that you don't need to relive or fully articulate what happened. The process works at the energetic level. You might identify that a trapped emotion is related to a certain period of your life or a relationship, but you're never asked to re-open wounds.
What does a session actually feel like?
Most people find sessions surprisingly gentle and often feel lighter, calmer, or more settled by the end. Some experience emotion coming up during the process. This is normal and passes. Zoe holds a steady, warm space throughout. After a session, some people feel a bit tired or emotional as the body integrates the work over 24 to 48 hours.
Can Emotion Code help with physical symptoms?
Yes. Trapped emotions can contribute to physical symptoms including pain, tension, fatigue, digestive issues, and more. While Zoe never makes medical claims and cannot diagnose or treat illness, many clients notice improvements in physical wellbeing as emotional patterns shift. It works well alongside conventional medical care.
Can sessions be done for children or by proxy?
Yes. Emotion Code (and Body Code) can be done as a proxy session, meaning Zoe works on behalf of another person, including children, elderly parents, or even animals. The parent or guardian is present for the session and provides consent. Proxy sessions work the same way as in-person sessions.

Body Code

How is Body Code different from Emotion Code?
Emotion Code specifically identifies and releases trapped emotions. Body Code includes Emotion Code as one of its components but also addresses a much broader range of imbalances. Structural alignment, nutritional deficiencies, toxins, pathogens, circuitry (energy flow), and more. Think of Body Code as Emotion Code's more comprehensive sibling.
Can Body Code help with chronic physical conditions?
Many clients with chronic fatigue, pain, digestive issues, hormonal imbalances, and similar conditions have found relief through Body Code work. That said, Zoe works to support the body's natural healing capacity. She cannot diagnose or treat medical conditions, and sessions are always intended as complementary to, not a replacement for, medical care.
What happens if imbalances are found that require physical action?
Sometimes a session might identify something like a nutritional deficiency or a need to see a particular health professional. Zoe will mention this and provide guidance, but the decision to act on any recommendations is always yours.
Do I need to have done Emotion Code first?
Not necessarily. Some clients start directly with Body Code, especially if they're dealing with significant physical symptoms. Others begin with Emotion Code and move into Body Code as they go deeper. Zoe will help you decide the best order during your intro call.

Belief Code

What are "subconscious beliefs" and why do they matter?
Subconscious beliefs are deeply held convictions, often formed in childhood or through significant experiences, that we operate from automatically without consciously choosing them. They might sound like: "I'm not enough," "Love means sacrifice," "I have to earn my place." These beliefs quietly shape every decision, relationship, and self-perception, even when we consciously think we believe something different.
How is this different from cognitive therapy or journalling?
Cognitive approaches work at the level of conscious thought, identifying and reframing beliefs intellectually. The Belief Code works at a deeper, pre-conscious level. Many people find that even when they know a belief isn't true, they still feel it. Belief Code addresses the layers beneath rational understanding, which is why clients often notice shifts that felt impossible through thinking alone.
Will I know which beliefs are being worked on?
Yes. As beliefs are identified, Zoe will share them with you. The process is collaborative. You might immediately recognise something as true, or it might take a moment to sit with it. Either response is normal and valuable.
Is Belief Code suitable if I've already done a lot of personal development work?
Absolutely. Many of Zoe's Belief Code clients have done significant amounts of personal development and feel like they've hit a ceiling. The work often reaches layers that talk-based or intellectual approaches don't access, making it a powerful complement to coaching, therapy, or other inner work.

Yoga Therapy

I go to yoga classes. How is this different?
Group yoga classes are designed for a general student. Yoga therapy is a one-to-one therapeutic modality. Every aspect of the session (postures, breath, pace, sequence) is chosen specifically for your body, your nervous system, and your healing goals. There's no performing or keeping up with a class.
Do I need to be fit or flexible?
Not at all. Yoga therapy meets you exactly where you are. Sessions are built around your current capacity, whether you're recovering from injury, dealing with chronic pain, managing fatigue, or simply very new to any kind of movement practice. There are no prerequisites.
Is Yoga Therapy available online?
Yes. Yoga Therapy can be done online via Zoom (worldwide) or in person on the Sunshine Coast, QLD. Online sessions work well: Zoe guides you through the practice in real time, observes your movement on screen, and adjusts as needed.
Why is the first Yoga Therapy session 90 minutes?
The first session includes a proper assessment of your body, health history, and what you'd like the practice to focus on. 90 minutes gives time to do that without rushing, then move into actual practice. Subsequent sessions are 60 minutes.
Can Yoga Therapy be combined with energy healing or counselling sessions?
Yes, and many clients find combining them works beautifully. Energy healing can release emotional and energetic blocks. Counselling brings them into conscious understanding. Yoga therapy supports the body in integrating that work through movement, breath, and physical presence.
What are Zoe's yoga qualifications?
Zoe is a Certified Yoga Therapist and Certified Yoga & Pilates Instructor, with extensive training in therapeutic applications of yoga for the nervous system, chronic conditions, and trauma-informed movement.

Sessions & Logistics

How long is a session?
Energy healing sessions (Emotion Code, Body Code, Belief Code) are 60 minutes. Holistic Counselling and Yoga Therapy first sessions are 90 minutes, with ongoing sessions of 60 minutes. The free intro call is 20 minutes.
How do online sessions work?
Online sessions are conducted via Zoom. You'll receive a link when you book. You just need a quiet space and a stable internet connection. All modalities (energy healing, yoga therapy, and counselling) work effectively online. Distance is not a barrier.
What should I do to prepare for a session?
You don't need to do anything specific to prepare. Come as you are. If you'd like to, you can jot down anything you've been noticing (feelings, symptoms, patterns, situations) but there's no pressure to have it all figured out before you arrive.
What happens after a session?
Your body continues to process for 24 to 48 hours. You might feel some emotional sensitivity or tiredness during this time. This is normal and a sign the body is integrating the work. Zoe sends session notes after each appointment so you have a record of what was addressed. Drink plenty of water and be gentle with yourself.
How often should I have sessions?
This varies from person to person. Some clients come weekly during an intensive period. Others prefer fortnightly or monthly. Zoe will give you her honest recommendation based on what you're working through, and you're always in control of the pace.
What is the cancellation policy?
Please provide at least 24 hours notice if you need to reschedule or cancel. Late cancellations or no-shows may forfeit the session from your package. Zoe understands life happens. If something unexpected comes up, reach out as soon as you can and she will do her best to work with you.
Where is Zoe based?
Zoe is based on the Sunshine Coast, QLD. All sessions are available in person on the Sunshine Coast or online via Zoom worldwide.
